Anti-Cheating Technology

Ensuring Fair and Secure Assessments

Comprehensive Behaviour Monitoring

Podium's Anti-Cheating Technology preserves the integrity of unproctored online assessments through layered monitoring. We combine behavioural tracking, system control features and, where clients choose it, AI-based Facial Validation to detect and report potential violations.

Podium monitors candidate behaviour in real-time, including screen focus, fullscreen status, prohibited keyboard shortcuts, and attempts to access developer tools. Clipboard access is also restricted, preventing the copying or pasting of content during assessments.

To support identity validation and prevent collusion, our Facial Validation system can be layered on for a deeper level of verification.

All collected data feeds into the Confidence Score, a behavioural index produced for each session, which highlights any concerns for administrator review.

Ethical Monitoring with Transparent Communication

Before launching an assessment, candidates are clearly informed that their behaviour will be monitored to prevent cheating. If any malfeasance is detected, administrators will be notified, and this may affect the candidate's application.

Podium is designed to promote honest test-taking, not punishment. Candidates are empowered to complete assessments with confidence in a fair and secure environment.

Key Security Features

Screen Focus Monitoring

Detection of tab changes or loss of focus, indicating the candidate has navigated away from the assessment.

Clipboard Restriction

Access to copy and paste functionality is blocked during the assessment session to prevent information transfer.

Fullscreen Enforcement

Monitoring if the candidate exits fullscreen mode, which may indicate access to external resources.

Keyboard Shortcut Blocking

Disabling common keyboard shortcuts that could expose developer tools or use data from an external source.

Confidence Scores & Evidence Reports

Confidence Scoring

The Confidence Score analyses behavioural patterns and irregularities, such as leaving the test window and unusual response timing, to show how independently the assessment was completed.

Evidence for Administrators

Each session generates an evidence pack of triggered events, and behaviour summaries to assist in review and decision-making.

Human-Led Review

The Confidence Score supports human decision-makers. Every alert and score comes with evidence, and the final judgement is always left to the administrator.

Administrative Review

Detailed validation reports give administrators the evidence they need to make informed decisions.
